  • 23,000 children age out of foster care every year

  • 24% become instantly homeless between the ages 18-21

  • Less than 50% will have gainful employment by age 24

  • Less than 50% get their GED or HS diploma, 3% get a college degree

  • 70% of females become pregnant before age 21

  • Greater than 50% develop substance dependency

  • 98% age out without a driver’s license

  • 25% suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

  • 55% have had 3 or more placements while in foster care

  • 33% changed elementary schools 5 or more times

  • 29% are incarcerated by age 21; 43% by age 24 are in prison

  • 90% of the youth with 5 or more placements enter criminal system

  • By age 17 greater than 50% in foster care are arrested and convicted

  • Most age out at 18 without family or caring adults
